HERD KEEPS THE ENTERTAINMENT QUALITY HIGH BUT THE CARBON FOOTPRINT LOW.

CURRENTLY

Herd is proud to bring Claudia Dey’s eccentric & captivating tale, Trout Stanley, into the homes of New Yorkers. This offbeat, rustic, dark comedy weaves a whimsical 5-course meal, catered by Veggie Mom Club & Spooning with Sara, into the threads of the story. Trout Stanley makes for an evening that nourishes the weariest of wanderers and transforms the loneliest of travelers into friends.

WHO IS HERD?

Herd is a female-led, sustainability-focused community of theatre makers. Emboldened by an understanding that creativity springs from motivation by others; we do not create in a vacuum. Herd is constantly looking for new ways to be inspired by our audiences and involve them in our work. We hope to dispel the alienation rooted in urban life by creating shared experiences in unique venues that connect audience members, all while championing a greener entertainment community.

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?

We are passionate about sustainability in the arts. We find it imperative to unearth more sustainable solutions for the theatre and make them the new norm. We have observed the entertainment industry’s staggering waste production through promotional mailings, printed programs, and lavish, newly constructed sets, props, and costumes for every production. We believe that these unsustainable, wasteful, and often unnecessary practices can and must be replaced by alternatives that do not impede on the artist or hinder the effectiveness of storytelling for the audience experience. As early career artists whose choices will shape the future of the industry, we feel obligated to take a stand for sustainability and keep the entertainment quality high but the carbon footprint low.
